Firefighters investigate cause of mausoleum fire at Kanawha Valley Memorial Gardens
KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -Firefighters are investigating the cause of a fire at a cemetery in Kanawha County Saturday morning.
Glasglow Volunteer Fire Chief Marty Blankenship said one of the two mausoleums at Kanawha Valley Memorial Gardens caught fire.
The GVFD and several other fire departments assisted with battling the fire.
Cemetery officials say the fire was mostly contained to the roof and the upper levels of the mausoleum.
While the investigation is still in its early stages, cemetery officials also tell us it appears the fire was accidental and caused by an electrical issue.
Staff are working to identify the affected crypts and notify family.
